Where exact statistics aren’t readily available, it is understood that parking lots at night can be highly dangerous environments for anybody. With our business being one where we are focused on both the safety and security of our client’s personal self and belongings we work tirelessly to make sure that our parking lots and their perimeters are as safe as possible. For men and women both, taking precautions is always recommended, regardless of the level of security involved. When leaving or returning to your car at our port of Miami parking lots, make sure to remember the following safety tips:
- Stick with others – If you’re traveling alone, team up with others that may be doing the same. Try your best to not walk alone at night, regardless of your environment. Though our cruise parking lot is fenced and gated, we prefer that you walk with someone. Our security members are available for assistance should you require their company.
- Don’t appear vulnerable – Too much baggage, large purses and totes and high heels make for a ripe victim. Wear flats and keep your purse close to your body. Keep cash and other valuables in various pockets rather than an obvious handbag.
- Get your keys out- Making sure to get your keys out while still safely in the shuttle will not only get you into your car safely and quickly, but the way you actually carry your keys can serve as protection if needed. By holding your keychain in your hand, with the keys stuck through your fingers in an outward manner, you’ll have a makeshift weapon ready to gouge at the eyes of an attacker. If you have a heavy set of keys secured with a lanyard, you can also use the lanyard to swing at your attacker while yelling loudly.
- Pay attention to your surroundings – Pay attention to land markers and parking lot lanes and signs to ensure that you’re not wandering aimlessly trying to find your car in the dark. Though you may be tired when returning from your cruise, make sure to remain vigilant, observing those who are loitering in the area or any potential threats to your safety.
